Out Of The Mouths Of Moms

OutOfTheMouthsOfMoms
MckMama started this new post and I love it. I often find myself saying things, especially to my daughter, and then wondering if I actually said that out loud.
Of course now that there is a chance to post these things my mind is a blank. That's me. Which is why I have a notepad application on my phone. My memory is full of useless information - such as knowing that 80's song 2 notes into it so I need to write things done the moment they happen or I think them.
One of the more common things I say in the house is "We don't eat the doggies food". Gosh how often I must say that.
A few others favorites around the house:
  • Please don't push Mommy's eye, I need that to see.
  • We don't put our hands in the toilet. No Nina please don't put your hands in the toilet.
  • No we don't pull the puppy's fur. Gentle.
  • Please leave your diaper alone. We don't take our diapers off. (this is usually followed by 17 month old laughter and a naked tushie running from me)

I would love to add to this.

Later Lovebugs.

View from here Wednesday and Random Thoughts

Day 75 of 365

View from here Wednesday:

The Bub starting to love books. :)

Random Thoughts:
  • I am one pound away from reaching my first goal of 20lbs. I've been stuck for a while now. I tell myself I will go outside and get some exercise as soon as it is cooler outside and I feel well. Pigs might fly before that happens.
  • Since the Bub was born I have been taking a weekly photo of her. I told myself I would take the photo and then write down something about that week and scrapbook it. It didn't happen. I hate that I don't have the project done. And my memory fails me when I try to remember a certain date of smaller events, like the first time she was able to put the rings on her stacking ring toy. Or when she started saying "here you go" to hand us something. It was young, impressive in fact for such a young child to form a three word phrase, and I can't remember the day or even week or month it happened. Hopefully I have it jotted down somewhere. It isn't too late, she still has so much growing to do so I am going to start doing it again.
  • I don't miss cable. at all.
  • Facebook is quiet. Figures no one is around when I want to do my jewelry give away contest. TYPICAL!
  • Got the results of my blood tests back, my vitamin D levels are low. I started taking Vitamin D supplement yesterday. We shall see what happens. It's amazing how much is effected by vitamin deficiencies. Why these tests aren't common is beyond me. You should have heard the ladies trying to enter the codes for the test in the computer. One of them actually said that they were weird or odd (can't remember) tests.
  • Got my referrals for the cardiologist and neurologist in the mail Friday....still didn't make the appointments. I hate going to the doctor.
  • I downloaded a rotary phone app for my phone. My Bub thinks it's the funniest thing ever.
Later Lovebugs. Time to get the Bub ready so we can go to work.

Should have done this years ago

Day 66 of 365

Yesterday marked our official first full week without cable. For a moment I missed it and thought to myself what the hell did we just do, but I realized what I missed most was seeing the time and the noise. Two things fixed by putting the small radio back into the living room/dining room area. It also confirmed to me what I had thought for a while now. I didn't really watch most of the shows I put on, I left them on just for background noise. Background noise that I could get by playing a CD, DVD or putting on the radio rather than having a ridiculously hot piece of electronics sitting atop of my DVD player and costing me money every month.

We already use Netflix but now it is really getting a workout, especially the watch instantly thanks to our handy dandy X-Box 360. I find myself actually watching programs when I have the time. The Backyardigans are available for the Bub on the watch instantly so they are in queue at all times along with a Yo Gabba Gabba DVD.

I may have a different opinion in the winter when I am snowed in the house with a toddler bouncing off the walls. But that is many months from now. For now I will enjoy watching a program I actually want to watch on my own time and saving a butt load of money.

Later Lovebugs.

You can get with this or you can get with that...

Day 63 of 365

My love for Target is no secret. I look forward to going there for our weekly shopping. Recently (or not so recently, my concept of recent events has changed drastically since I became a Mom) our Target added produce section so we do most of our weekly grocery shopping there. We go to Costco to stock up on the essentials and then hubby goes to the grocery store during the week to pick up any fresh produce/meat we need for dinner. For the record you can find a lot of things much cheaper at Target than at your Shoprite, Stop & Shop or Kings. Plus you can still use coupons.

Since shopping at Target I have come to love some of the store brand items and hate some of the others.

I love:

  • Target Brand Diaper - OMG. Seriously, so much cheaper and IMO far better than Luvs and Huggies. Equal quality of Pampers for size 1-3, size 4 Target trumps Pampers. I think regular price is $13.69 a pk
  • Target Brand Baby Formula - Again huge savings. Half the price of the other brands and you will get coupons at checkout when you buy from time to time. Plus if you get coupons from Target in the mail you will sometimes get a coupon in there as well. It is IDENTICAL to the Enfamil brand just cheaper. Bonus, if you need a specialized formula they also have a variety of those.
  • Target Brand Baby Drops - This is the store brand of the Tylenol infant drops that have been subject to a ton of recalls. At least half the price if not more. They offer the dye free drops, cherry and grape. Works great.
  • Target Brand Paper Towels - Ridiculously absorbant and they offer the various size sheets for small messes which we use all the time in our house.
  • Target Brand Dishwasher Detergent - I was using a much more expensive brand and decided to try it a couple of months ago. Works just as good as the other brand, in fact a little better as I find fewer water spots.
  • Target Brand Saline Solution - Tons cheaper than the name brands, same exact thing as Renew? brand according to my eye doctor. $3.19 for a two pack.
  • Target Brand Multi-Vitamins - Equal to the Woman's or Men's One A Day but a lot cheaper. Again same thing, less money (this week $4.00)
  • Target Brand Aluminum Foil, Freezer Bags, Sandwich Bags, Plastic Wrap. All great and cheaper than the name brand.

I HATE:

  • Target Brand Cotton Swabs - They are just awful. I can't stand them and I am about to throw the rest of the box away.

Can't pass the savings:

  • Target Brand Tampons - the product itself works great. The packaging leaves a lot to be desired. The wrapper is very thin and you can not put the throw away part back into it when throwing away. The plunger sometimes is hard to get going, not something you want to be messing with, especially if you only have one tampon left in your purse before you get home. Ahem. That being said they are so much cheaper than the other brands that unless the name brand is on sale (like they were the other day thank you very much $5.00 Target gift card) I buy the Target brand.

Day 60 of 365

Tired Bub

Where does the time go?

Day 52 of 365

I can't believe it has been nearly a week since I even thought about logging into Blogger.

Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July weekend.

Our family had a nice weekend. The Bub is still too little to take to the fireworks since she gets frightened by loud noises. I am looking forward to the first time she sees them in person.

The jewelry business is coming along. I am excited and really enjoy it. I am really looking forward to going into a craft show in the fall.

One of these days I need to actually sit down and pour out all of the thoughts I have.

I can't pinpoint the exact day the Bub started walking so independently. Now she just walks back and forth all day long, no longer standing waiting for a hand from Mommy so she can take a step. It kills me I don't have things like that documented. I know about when it happened but I can't believe I forgot to jot a note down the moment it happened. Too busy living in the moment and I didn't even think about it.

My little girl is growing up so quickly. Things that seemed they would never happen are just there now. Like using a sippy cup and walking....things she fought doing are now just part of every day. She still enjoys her bottle and I am fine with that. She doesn't NEED her bottle all the time and that is all that matters to me. She will give it up when she is ready.

Man oh man - she loves music! And if she loves something more than music it is routine. lol. I put a new toy in her crib for her so she had something different to play with when she woke up. (she only had one because I was afraid to put much in there) When she woke up she says, "here you go" while pushing the cuddly bear in my arms. Yup, that's my girl.

Another thing I can't remember the exact moment it happened is when she started to enjoy push toys and things with wheels. It's adorable to watch her push and pull her toys. We bought her a Megablocks Fill and Dump Truck yesterday. We didn't buy extra blocks for it yet since I want to see if she really uses it.

She still loves Yo Gabba Gabba but now The Backyardigans and Elmo also keep you entertained. And finally you will sit long enough (Sometimes) for me to read a book to you. Reading to you is one of the things I was most looking forward to and I am excited that it is something we can do together.

Later Lovebugs. We have to get ready to go to work.
